The Academic Session of the school starts in the month of April, The School is affiliated with Central Board of Secondary Education – New Delhi. The School follows CBSE pattern and at +2 levels Science and Commerce streams are available.
All schools affiliated with C.B.S.E are free to choose text books and associated activities up to standard eight after which the focus of study narrows down to books prescribed by the N.C.E.R.T. Our school follows a system of continuous and comprehensive assessment throughout the year. Assessment is both formal and informal. The school follows the semester system thereby decreasing the workload of a student during formal exams.
The school year is divided into two terms both having nearby a 6 months duration. Each term comprises of three levels of assessments.
a) Diary Reports : This is an informal method of assessment where weightage of marks is equally divided between short class tests and quality of home work; regularity of class work as well as class participations during class discussions or group activities. A student is reviewed twice in each term by various subject teachers.
b) Unit Tests: Once every mid term students write short formal tests. The syllabus is a small unit of the entire curriculum of the academic year. The advantages of these tests are that it necessitates revision and breaks up the quantum of the course to be learnt for the terminal examination.
c) Terminal Examination: Each term ends with a term exam. Generally all important basic concepts are now tested. The test papers are designed to test knowledge, applications and skills learnt during the term.
d) Report Card : A report card of the students progress is issued at the end of the term. Due weight age is given to marks gained in diary reports, unit tests and the term exam, making each term a continuous process. A report card also includes assessment by the class teacher on character qualities and personality traits. An overview of a student’s special achievement during a term is also mentioned.
The system of exams is designed to include regularity in studies while also allowing students to express their individuality.
Tutorials:
The school provides special tutorial lessons/remedial teaching both during and after school hours as and when the teachers feel that the students need special attention and for which the school has special tutorial rooms
Results of the Class X – 2005 have been 100% with more than 75% first divisions. Career counseling through in house and guest faculty is an ongoing activity.
